Senior Adviser 

As a part of restructuring the organisation, Arctic Frontiers has a full-time position available for a senior adviser who has demonstrated operative experience, ability to deliver in a hectic work environment and experience from strategic work. You will be requested to take on a diverse portfolio including the development of the Arctic Frontiers program and concept. You are expected to work closely with the Arctic Frontiers team as well as our partners. We are looking for an effective and flexible team member with an international mindset and proven track record of getting things done.

This position offers a unique insight to Arctic cooperation, an opportunity to work with Arctic Frontiers’ vast partner network representing leading expertise in the field, and an opportunity to advance Arctic collaboration across the different sectors. The everyday work is highly international and deals with topics of high priority in the current affairs agenda.

Role and responsibilities

The senior adviser coordinates, plans and follows up the work related to policy and business at the Arctic Frontiers, thus working in close collaboration with other parts of the organisation including its partners as well as other external stakeholders. The senior adviser plays a key role in the implementation and development of the Arctic Frontiers’ operations and outreach.

  • Outreach, meetings, and network building based on the organisation's needs and strategy.
  • Development of the Arctic Frontiers’ substantial program and concept.
  • Establish, coordinate and facilitate cooperation with Arctic Frontiers’ partners, embassies and other organisations and institutions.
  • Assist in the administrative work and in coordination of the organisation's work plan
  • Participate and assist in Arctic Frontiers’ outreach efforts, reporting, and creation of deliverables.
  • Management of the organisation's supplier network.
    Due to diversity of tasks within the organisation, the senior adviser will also be asked to assist with other tasks as needed.
Key competences and personal skills

Ideal qualifications for this position include

  • Master’s degree e.g. in social sciences, communications, administration and relevant work experience
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong experience in project management and event organisation
  • Experience in strategic work and an ability to recognise trends
  • Proactive working attitude and ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in rapidly changing work environment
  • Eagerness to work in an international environment
  • Excellent language skills in English
  • Work-level use of Norwegian
  • Knowledge about Arctic issues is an advantage

Some travelling is mandatory.

Terms and Remuneration

Arctic Frontiers offers a competitive remuneration based upon qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate.

Staff members are expected to live in Tromsø and be/become members of the Norwegian social security scheme.
