Our specialists have experience from sea- and land- based fish farming concepts, intensive and semi-intensive systems, recirculation systems, salt- brackish and fresh- waters. Working in close cooperation with clients and local experts, we design facilities that are adapted for local species and environmental conditions. We can assist or take responsibility for activities in all project stages from suitability evaluation to design, construction, start-up and production.

In a pre-feasibility study we evaluate potential alternative sites for selected species. The study includes an economic evaluation of key running costs such as feed, labor, and egg/fry availability. These studies can be organized as a desk study or as a combination desk and field study.
Through a feasibility study we help clients select an optimal production concept. We prepare detailed production plans, facilities design drawings, and assess operational costs and investments, as well as perform a profitability analysis.
We take the results of the feasibility study to the next level of detailed design and planning. This step is often performed in collaboration with a local engineering company, and key suppliers of technology, such as a supplier of water recirculation systems. We can assist local engineers to prepare detailed design drawings and technical specifications for specialized equipment.
Akvaplan-niva will assist or fully manage the construction phase. Once construction is complete, our experts are available to train new personnel in facilities operations, both before and during start-up.
