Feasibility studies

After having financed of the aquaculture project, a feasibility study is needed to secure accurate technical and economical calculations before contracting entrepreneurs and deliverers of equipment.

In this phase, Akvaplan-niva usually works together with local and/or international technical consultants, as this is often provides the most cost and time effective solutions for our clients. Our duty is to act as a project supervisor, securing that biological, technical and management issues are compatible and arranged in an optimal way.

The complexity of the study varies according to the type of project:

  • Hatcheries and production of juveniles (one time use of water or recirculation, choice of species, light regulation, water heating and treatment systems, freshwater and marine)

  • on-growing farm (offshore, inshore. land based)

  • research and selective breeding facilities (many tanks, separate water systems, laboratories, quarantine zones, etc)

  • slaughtering, processing and packing plants

  • Integrated farms (form hatchery to processing facilities)
