assistance in doing an evaluation/screening study to find good sites and
good aquaculture project opportunities in a region/country.
After securing that there are good sites, next step
is typical to exactly find out what are the best project and the
possible profitability. Further it is important to secure the land/get
License for start-up.

The project work process may involve the
following activities:
Initial meetings with the customer and representatives from regional
authorities are arranged at an early stage, to discuss and to get an
overview of:

The investors
initial project ideas

Existing
plans for aquaculture ventures (names of areas, what kind of
species) in the region

Information about areas which have
been proposed as suitable for aquaculture incl. maps showing
depths and if possible data on: temperatures, salinities, water
currents, bottom conditions and exposure (topography, wave heights, dominating winds)

Preliminary
identification of the most promising areas for aquaculture
for the client
-
A plan for a visit to
potential sites
and for the collection of environmental data and other
relevant information

Arrange meetings with federal/local Authorities and representatives
from scientific institutions involved in aquaculture
in order to find out about license/permit requirements and to
identify what kind of financial and other support may be available
for planning and start-up of aquaculture
The consultant will in near co-operation with the
customer execute a field study. Focus will be to:

Get to know possible partners, scientists and personnel working at
the local authorities and which are involved in the aquaculture
sector

Evaluate together with the local expertise the goodness and
opportunity of proposed sites/project(s) and possible future
partnership

Get
information on contact persons/institutions involved in start-up and
foreign investments in future aquaculture ventures in the
country

Gather as much information as possible on issues related to start-up
of aquaculture
The evaluation study's last stage is to present our findings from the
desk- and screening studies.

Give an assessment and evaluation of the most promising
species and sites/areas for fish farming with limited potential for conflicts with
other stakeholders

Present a selection of appropriate technologies for the proposed sites and
species
-
Propose local partners (if relevant) and other important contacts
-
Discuss, and if possible agree, project goals and opportunities
(what is the best - most profitable and secure- alternative for the
customer to focus on?)

Together,
make a plan for follow- up (including progress plan, financing of the
remaining planning process, construction and start-up, training, day-to-day management,
etc. )
