Mathematical models

In order to calculate the carrying capacity of recipient waters in connection with sewage and aquaculture discharges, we use mathematical models. Models are also used to assess the in-layering depth of discharges, anticipated current changes as a result of coastal engineering works and to predict the distribution and sedimentation of particles and contaminants released to the environment.

GIS and databases

Akvaplan-niva daily handles larges quantities of environmental data. We have implemented information technological tools for use in projects, but in some cases, our GIS and database systems have been tailored to specific demands of our customers and been implemented elsewhere. We also have electronic data collection systems, such as a portable system for detailed topographic seafloor mapping. In cooperation with the "Svanhovd Center" we can offer advanced GPS services. (Trimble Pathfinder Pro XR with beacon).
